Heavily adapted from VegRecipesOfIndia.
In a heavy bottomed pan, add:
- 2 cups packed seedless dates
- 1 cup packed jaggery
- 2 cups packed seedless tamarind pulp.
- 1 cup water
Heat through and simmer for an hour or so, stirring off and on, adding water as needed for desired thickness, until all flavours are well blended.
Add about a tsp ginger powder, a tsp cumin powder, hot chilli powder and black salt. Mix well, and let simmer for another hour or so.
